IWC Sweater / Jumper Pattern

Each team must follow the International Wool Challenge pattern exactly as it is written, yarn to be equivalent to Double Knit or 8 ply. Upon completion, the team assessor is responsible for counting the stitches and rows.  

Needles

 One pair size 10 (3.25mm) (US SIZE 3)

One pair size 8 (4mm) (US SIZE 6)

Yarn/darning needle for finishing 

Back and Front (both the same)

Using size 10 (3.25mm) (US SIZE 3) needles, cast on 96 stitches.

Work 16 rows in K1, P1 rib. 

Change to size 8 (4mm) (US SIZE 6) needles.

Beginning with a knit row, work 134 rows in stocking stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row). 

Work 12 rows in K1, P1 rib (total 162 rows from cast on edge).

Cast off loosely in rib. 

Sleeves (make two alike)

Using size 10 (3.25mm) (US SIZE 3) needles cast on 46 stitches. 

Work 16 rows in K1, P1 rib. 

Change to size 8 (4mm) (US SIZE 6)needles. 

Work in stocking stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row), increasing 1 stitch at each end of the 1st and every following 4th row until there are 96 stitches. 

Continue on these 96 stitches until 100 rows stocking stitch have been completed (total 116 rows from cast on edge). 

Cast off loosely 

Finishing

 Join Back and Front along cast-off edge, approximately one quarter of the width of the work from each shoulder edge, leaving the remainder in the centre for the neck opening. Sew in Sleeves.
