At Stacey’s Spinning Haven, our foundation is rooted in a lifelong passion for the fiber arts.
My journey began at a young age, learning to crochet granny squares. As an adult, I joined a knitting group where I expanded my skills into knitting. My path truly took shape after attending the San Diego International Back-to-Back Wool Competition, where I watched a team shear a sheep, spin the wool, and knit a sweater—all in a single day. From that moment on, I was hooked.
Like many in the fiber world, I started small—processing fleece in a 5-gallon bucket, using dog brushes for carding, and spinning on a drop spindle. Over time, that hands-on learning evolved into the full mill operation we run today using Belfast Mini Mill equipment. The learning process has never stopped, and that continued education is at the core of what we do.

My experience spans multiple areas of the fiber arts, including crochet, knitting (hand and machine), weaving, spinning, rug punching, felting, and dyeing.
I have completed formal training, including advanced certification in grading, sorting, and classing through SUNY, and continue to expand my knowledge through coursework in fiber preparation and processing, as well as ongoing breed studies.
I remain actively involved in the fiber community as Vice President of the Maine Spinners Registry and had the opportunity to bring the International Back-to-Back Wool Challenge to Maine—an experience that reflects both my passion for the craft and commitment to supporting and growing the fiber community.

I am not a fiber farmer—and intentionally so. My focus is on fiber processing, allowing me to dedicate 100% of my time and attention to supporting fiber farms and producing the highest quality product possible.
Stacey’s Spinning Haven is co-owned and operated by Stacey Wilson and Harry Wilson. Married since 1999, we bring a shared work ethic and dedication to the mill. Harry is a retired Navy veteran and spent seven years as a truck driver to help make the mill possible. Today, we operate the mill together, combining our skills and commitment in every stage of the process.
The fibers used in our Online Mill Store are sourced from local Maine farms as part of our commitment to supporting the regional fiber community.
